Mr. Fouad Makhzoumi: linking the bill to lower the legal voting age with allowing expatriate Lebanese to vote is an excuse that reeks of sectarianism.

According to the head of the National Dialogue Party, Mr. Fouad Makhzoumi, the attempt to link the bill to lower the legal voting age with allowing expatriate Lebanese to vote is an excuse that reeks of political sectarianism.

Mr. Makhzoumi added that the rejection by Parliament to lower the voting age proves once again that the Members of Parliament, voted in on an archaic election law, are not responsible enough to abolish the current political power-sharing mechanism.
